The Rijks Museum and Van Gogh Museum are worth a visit for some culture but the most attractive thing about Amsterdam is the lifestyle. Amsterdam is only 4 hours from Calais and ideal for school rugby tours, football tours and hockey tours of all ages, budgets and abilities.
Holland also has some excellent beaches, well accessed from The Hague or Noordwijk, where you can also visit some good museums, theme parks and activity centres. Eindhoven and Rotterdam are also popular with schools, especially for hockey and rugby tours, both cities are less than 3 hours from Calais so they are ideal weekend destinations for coach tours from the UK.
